Many of our patients find themselves unhappy because of the presence of a disproportionately round or full face….or what they might describe as “chubby cheeks”.

This situation can occur with no relationship to overall body size, shape or weight, and is often found even in people who are otherwise slim. This “round faced” appearance can detract from one’s overall look. The shape most people long for is the very geometric and triangular shaped face…..that is, nice prominent cheekbones that taper below in the mid-cheek area down to a strong chin and jawline, and a well-defined jaw-neck angle.

We perform a set of procedures which we describe as “facial contouring” procedures. They include cheek augmentation, chin augmentation, liposuction of the neck, and the buccal fat extraction. The buccal fat extraction procedure is performed in our accredited surgical facility under local anesthesia with sedation and usually takes about 30 minutes. Removal of the buccal fat pad is performed by making a small incision on the inside of the cheek, leaving no external scar. Most patients have little to no discomfort, a moderate amount of swelling afterwards, and are looking slimmer and able to return to normal activity within a few days.
