General Philosophy
The decision to have plastic surgery is a very personal decision. Each individual has a unique perspective and desires when contemplating surgery. The most important initial factor leading to a successful outcome is communication. By truly understanding my patients hopes and expectations, I can then really help educate them about the procedures that would be best suited for their individual case. Without this clear understanding, wide gaps may exist between what the patient and the surgeon hope to achieve.
The next step is decision making. The fascinating thing about plastic surgery is that there are so many different ways to perform each operation. Given the variety of surgical techniques, each surgeon must make choices. This is as important as the technical talents of the individual performing the operation. What guides my decision making process is picking operations that are:
Safe: least risk for the greatest gain.High Impact: real change that meets the patient's expectation.Natural Appearing: know one should know plastic surgery was done.Lasting: results persist through time.
When the above criteria are met, the experience is extremely rewarding for the patient as well as the surgeon. |
