| A North Carolina native, raised in Southern Florida, Dr. Roberts has called Spartanburg, S.C. “home” for more than twenty years. He and his wife Susie chose Spartanburg following his residency, to start his practice and raise their now four children. Although neither Dr. Roberts or Susie had family here, they felt that this area, with its strong ethical influence and inherent beauty, offered an environment well suited to raising a family and building strong community ties. Dr. Roberts has enjoyed serving on boards of numerous civic and arts organizations as well as serving as an elder in his church. He was one of the founders of the St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic for the | | working underprivileged and one of the founders of the Western Carolina Cleft Lip and Palate Center--a multi-specialty team dedicated to evaluating and treating children with birth defects. He organizes a team of physicians, nurses and other helpers who participate in a yearly medical mission to serve the poor in the Dominican Republic, treating adults and children with birth defects, burns and other serious reconstructive problems.
